this is my first journal entry here on the webpage. it's not actually up and running yet, but, hopefully, it will be soon.
of course, i guess if you're actually reading this, then this current dialogue is merely a waste of your time, my time, and
the valuable battery power i still have left. anyway, i'm currently sitting on a united airline plane from san francisco to
baltimore. we have our alumni game this weekend. united provides you with so many drinks. they've come by four times now
asking if i want anything to drink. not only that, but they give you the entire can, not just one of those small plastic cups
filled with 85% ice. now i'm smirking because the line for the bathroom keeps getting longer and longer. well, not too much
else. i did go to the wrong airport this morning. yes, that's right, i'm an idiot. it worked out well though. i'm getting in
two hours earlier. woohoo. baltimore, here i come...

upon waking up and pushing robbie off me. we prepared to meet our challengers--the undergrads. after a hardy meal of sam's
bagels, chris, dave, anna, and jamey headed off for beer at wells. robbie and i headed to the thrift store to replace the
trophy jamey broke. "honest, my mom had it in her garden, and the dog broke it. i think he was on ludes or something." anyway,
robbie and i picked up this talking wizard and off to the fields. the game was great. the alumni came back to win 23-21 (i
think) after being down by four points. chris drank a large amount of beer, robbie had bloody mary's, and there were some
great plays and swill. after shedding several pounds of mud, we picked up derrick "quickdraw" cummings and headed to dinner
at no way jose cafe. the manager was a bitch, the waiter and waitress cool, and lost in foosball with derrick to shupp and
roy. went back to roy's to get my ass whooped by meghan in street fighter III. then the party...
it started with the usual shots of tequilas, beer pong (yeah, shupp), asshole, and dancing. then it cranked up a notch.
chris has his own story to tell (i hope) rj drove dave, jamey, and i home. dave, got
really sick. basically, jamey slept on a bed and dave on the bathroom floor. i on the other hand, went back to the party.
i arrived to find robbie, anna, frank, rob, and eugene doing keg stands. now robbie and alcohol mix better than kahlua, cream,
and vodka. he was determined to put eugene to bed so the alumni would win the party. first, a bet with rob to drink a double
gulp (64 oz.) of beer in 1 min. and 30 seconds for twenty bucks failed (for rob at least). eugene ignited the microwave on
fire trying to time it. anyway, rob stripped down to his boxers and tiny nipples and pranced around st. paul at four in the
morning. finally, eugene went to bed after several more keg stands and the suggestion of drinking vodka on the beach. robbie
still stole the vodka and left it on some crotch rocket motorcycle. back to the hotel to pass out on the floor at 5:30 in the
morning. robbie and molly apparently snuck out the window to the roof. what a great weekend.

just got back from driving and hiking to the summit of mt. diablo. check out the pictures. it was really cloudy, but still
nice. not much to say about the trip otherwise. guess it's time to eat some ice cream and play starcraft.

so kristen and i drove up to point reyes today. we got a little lost on the way, and we missed the turn for sir francis drake
road. instead we got off at lucas valley road. i need to do a little research, but i think we were driving around the perimeter
of skywalker ranch. there was this huge gate and a fence for several miles on our right. not only that, but i saw large
footprints that definitely looked like at-st tracks. anyway, point reyes is absolutely beautiful (if you can ignore all the
cow manure, not too hard for a country boy like myself). we saw a deer, sea lions, and a fin whale. "fin whale, fin whale
swimming around...". we then hung out on the beach. to make a short story shorter, check out the pictures. if a picture is worth
a thousand words, then i think i have about 20,000 words in the picture gallery. which takes up more memory: a thousand of my
words or one of my pictures?

well, it's easter sunday, and once again the easter bunny did not come to my house. i just don't f*&%ing understand it. santa
always gets me presents, whether i'm in new jersey, texas, or pennsylvania. but this is the third or fourth year that the
easter bunny has not come. MR. EASTER BUNNY, THIS IS A THREAT ON YOUR LIFE AND YOUR FAMILY'S LIVES. IF YOU DO NOT DELIVER ME
CANDY NEXT YEAR, I SWEAR I WILL EAT SOME RABBIT PRODUCT FOR DINNER NEXT EASTER. UNDERSTOOD?
anyway, now that that tirade is over, i can get on to describing my easter. my friend monica slater is quite the croquet
fanatic. we like to describe her as a "professional" because she travels to these tournaments hosted by the
"golden mallet society". so she set up this tournament in the flower conservatory of golden gate park. the easter tourney
was called "croquet, for christ's sake". there were two heats. the top three winners will be playing in a final tournament
some other weekend. i believe the finalists were enoch, jon potis, me, monica, scott, and the other guy who i can't remember
his name. it was a blast. beer, croquet, flowers, tourists, and pure excitement in the air. thanks monica slater!!!

so my friend, jen pettit, came to visit from north carolina during the above mentioned dates. it was pretty sweet. she presented
me with a present from cheryl dement--a bag of grits and cheryl's cheese grits. very good. even if you don't like grits, the
cheese grits are to die for. anyway, she came and observed my class (she is currently teaching my old class). we went to golden
gate park and presidio park in san francisco. we also got in trouble with the muni in s.f. the turnstiles were open and there
wasn't anyone in the muni info booths. so we walked through and boarded the muni. apparently, you're only supposed to board the
front car if the turnstiles are open. you then pay the operator on the first car. hello, could you post it a little better?
this mean lady cop took our licenses and warned that we would receive a citation if we ever did it again. (ugly face being made)
so after that is when we hit the parks. we also walked the golden gate bridge (after already walking from golden gate park to
the bridge...probably about 2-3 miles already). good times. thanks for visiting, jen.

purchased four baseball tickets: whitney, conor, rascal, and caitlin. section 332, row 18, seat 17. the highest one can get in
pacbell stadium. now just a side note about pacbell (given to us be a chicago cubs fan). pacbell was apparently designed after
camden yards. it looks almost exactly like camden yards. both the o's and giants are orange and black. the giants are, unforutnately,
a better team. go o's. anyway, the eighth inning finally comes, and so do rascal and caitlin. nine bucks per inning. they were
very good spirited about it though. ending: giants-5, cubs-0, bonds-2 homeruns that night. great game. go o's.
